Falling into form through painting, sculpture, and writing (among others as the feeling strikes), my practice is fuelled by curiosity, desire, and a kind of hope for our world that some might call naive, but I consider essential. Painting, a process that feels akin to alchemy, prayer, and dance, is the closest thing I’ve found to creating a portal. Through dense and delicate veils of colour and form, where playfully intuitive gestures meet careful repetition, many relationships are found and fostered on the canvas and beyond. My approach to art-making and life-living is formed by a dedicated interest in ethics of love and care, somatic experiencing, applied philosophy, and decolonial, intersectional feminist theory.

I write this from my studio, the window looking out to the downtown core of what is colonially called “Victoria, BC”. Steps away from this space is the the inner harbour, traditionally a place of trade and gathering for the Coast Salish nations, including but not limited to the Lək̓ʷəŋən, Xʷsepsəm, and Songhees.

As not only a settler to these lands, but also an artist, student, and friend, my priority is to walk with humility, care, and the knowledge I must continuously build, tear down, and repair my understanding of how to be a responsible witness and contributor to decolonization.
